"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."

1. "Stephanie Meyer is the greatest writer ever in the entire world!! " & "Bella is the best role model!"
-I am definitely not a "Twilight" fan. I read the books, watched the movies, then realized what a waste of time it was. If you want to read a good book series, go pick up one of the following suggested series of books: The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, or the Series of Unfortunate Events. As for Bella being a good role model, I can only see the opposite. She's weak, she's obsessed with a boy, and she lets the boy's decisions dictate what she does with her life. She's a pitiful excuse. Whatever happened to women becoming powerful and learning to stand up for ourselves?? What would authors like Mary Wollstonecraft (author of the "Vindication of the Rights of Women") Or Virginia Woolf have to say? Has everything women tried to accomplish becoming only trivial? No. Do not be like Bella. She is a pitiful excuse.
-Okay, if you think that just because you say something mean and then end it with "just kidding" you're only fooling yourself. There's always a little truth behind every "just kidding." We use the phrase just kidding to cover our behinds when we say something that's not nice. If you said it, then you said it. You weren't joking; just own up to the fact that you said something mean, say sorry, and get on with your life.
3. "I'm a Christian. But I don't have to go to church, read my Bible, pray, or even act like a Christian."
-The best come-back for this is a simple phrase: "Practice what you preach." If you're going to say you're a Christian--live like a Christian. Don't label yourself as "Christian" if you're just going to go out and live your life utterly contrary to what the Bible says. Be the witness God wants you to be. Show others with your life that you are a Christian by what you do and say. You may be the only "Bible" that others may read. Other people see and judge Christians by what they say and do. Always be on guard. Don't be a hypocrite. Practice what you preach.
-This is normally uttered by a Liberal or a Democrat. I'm sorry to say that he's not stupid. President Bush is actually highly intelligent. He has been known to make a few mistakes when pronouncing words or when speaking. But who hasn't? If I had someone documenting everything that I ever said in my life you'd probably think I'm stupid as well. People make mistakes, get over it.
5. "You must have a lot of time on your hands to keep up with a blog." or "You're stupid for having a blog."
-Okay, first off, if you're reading this you probably don't think blogging is stupid. If you did, you obviously wouldn't be taking the time out of your day to read this post. However, no I do not have a bunch of spare time. I'm about the busiest person you've ever met. I make time to blog, or in any free time I have I start a post then continue it later, then eventually publish it.
Well why do I blog? I started blogging when I was in 10th grade. Blogging helps me get my thoughts "out there." I don't do it to boost my ego. I first and foremost, blog to record my thoughts. I want to look back and be able to say, "My, times have changed." And the best part about blogging, I think, is that if you're a reader, you get to see me become the person who I will be in the future. And I will have great documentation on it. Even just going back to my first post during the Spring of Sophomore year times have changed. I've grown up, matured, and I'm a better writer now.

And just a note, most of the time I don't spend hours editing what I've written for a blog post. I usually write what's on the top of my mind and hit publish. So, please do not judge all of my writing skills off of what you read here. I admit to having some poorly written sentences, phrases, word choices, grammar--etc. I don't care. All I want is to get my point across in the easiest way for me to do so--writing.
Even if you think you don't have time, even if you think you're a bad writer, even if you think no one will read it: start a blog. Write your thoughts. Even if they're jumbled up and written in a "stream of consciousness" type of format, just do it. You'll be surprised at how much you learn about yourself and how others will learn about you.
And on that note I can't think of much else to write. I think that I can come up with more sayings that are true than not true...I'll probably have a follow up post.
And that was Lindsey's thought of the day, where Lindsey shares an Everyday Thought.
